Welcome to MobileBeat 2008! Come join leading venture capitalists, industry players and entrepreneurs to discuss mobile. This half-day conference will explore the new opportunities that are emerging and ask the larger questions of the industry leaders within mobile, shedding some light on where the industry is headed and how entrepreneurs and developers can take advantage. It's aimed at entrepreneurs and investors. Also targeted are carriers, advertisers and media companies.

CompaniesHelp us select the best mobile start-up of 2008! Which company do you think has 1) the boldest idea, but 2) also has the opportunity to be a grand-slam business hit? We started by hand-selecting an initial list of start-ups we found to be promising. Then we selected additional companies from a group of write-in nominations, giving us a total of 80 nominees (write-ins were reviewed by an internal panel of four people). Since nominees selected from the write-in process haven’t had as much time on the list as the companies we originally selected, we’ll be taking that into consideration when weighing up the votes. We’ll cut off voting July 2 at noon. We’ll then invite the 30 top-ranked companies to present at MobileBeat2008, our conference on July 24. The top 10 companies get to pitch directly to the entire audience.
